What is salvation? This is a question that you will get a multiplicity of answers, from various people. Please allow me to Walk you through the Holy Scripture in the hope God reveals the answer to you.
St. John 3:3-7 says,"[Jhn 3:3-7 KJV] 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
There are seven key words in the passage above that requires your immediate attention. The seven words are; 1. Born 2. Again 3. Water 4. Spirit 5. See 6. Enter 7. Kingdom This passage lets us know in order to SEE the kingdom you must be BORN AGAIN and in order to ENTER you must be born again. Many people strive to be good people but, being a good person only doesn't grant access in the kingdom of God; i.e. Salvation.
Salvation is access from danger or death, into a place where you are safe. The dictionary may say "The preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss. But what danger is the Bible referring to that you need saving from? The danger is SIN and DEATH.
Adam had dominion over the world but, when he partook of the fruit from the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam gave dominion over to Satan. This caused you to be born into sin and shaped in iniquity. THE GOOD NEWS is that JESUS conquered sin and death by His death on the cross, burial, resurrection and ascension! The Bible says in Romans 8:1-4....
[Rom 8:1-4 KJV] 1 [There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
NOW this is how you gain access into the Kingdom of God, i.e.Salvation or Saved. As we read in St. John, you must be BORN AGAIN to SEE and to ENTER the Kingdom of God. THIS IS HOW you are BORN AGAIN... [Act 2:38 KJV] 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized (Water) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Spirit).
Why Peter? Because God gave Peter the keys to His Kingdom...
[Mat 16:15-19 KJV] 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
[Rom 6:3-6 KJV] 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also [in the likeness] of [his] resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with [him], that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
